It sounds like there are two issues going on here, both of which I have
confirmed. I believe they might need separate bug reports, though. Let me think
how to approach this.

Issue 1: After adding text to the main portion to a new document, you can add a
header, add text to this, and close the document without being prompted to
save.

Issue 2: Ctrl-Z does not work for previous changes to main body once you are
inside a header or footer.
