Hi,
I observge a problem with imported xls an xlsx files containing dropdown lists
and named ranges:
1. If a dropdown list is created (in MSO, stored as xls or xlsx) using a range
spanning a whole column, LO and the whole desktop hangs if this list is opened.
I assume that this is because (i) a modal dropdown list is created which blocks
all other interactions and (ii) LO starts to process tho whole column (many
thousands of items) and hangs there. As the result the whole desktop is
blocked.
2. If a named range is created in MSO and stored in xls or xlsx, its name does
not appear in Data/Select Range and Data/Define Range, even though it seems to
be defined and is used in the dropdown lists.
Both MSO and LO enable to specify ranges as whole columns and both work
correctly if such ranges are used in dropdown lists. Only if a file created in
MSO is opened in LO, LO hangs.
This is demonstrated in the attached files.
The problem with droplists:
catdrop.xls(x) was created im MSO2010. The 'cat' droplists are OK, since the
'cat' range comprised only 4 cells. The 'one' droplists hang. There are two
options: "ignore blank" was both selected and deselected in MSO, but both fail.
jandrop.ods was created in a similar way in LO4.0
Both droplists work correctly, even though the 'trees' range spans the whole
column (one can verify this in Data/Select Range)
LO does not show the named ranges:
Try Data/Select Range or Data/Define Range. In jandrop.ods one can see names of
the ranges, in catdrop.xls(x) not. However, in both cases the range names are
visible in Data/Consolidate->Source Data Range.
Thanks for your help in advance
Milos
