When in this special gbdtrace mode, I don't reach any such situation. I just repeated my above mentioned trial, but this time not giving the file to be edited aw a command line argument. Everything went fine until I had selected the offending document in the GUI. Then LibreOffice bombed out immediately, not leaving behind any gbdtrace file.
