The reported button is correct. xev is not the easiest to monitor mouse events with; but the MX Master 3 mouse appears to provide an event every 15 degrees of rotation (24 events per rotation). (Puzzling why this is not affected) Scroll up seems fine. The only scroll issue I see is scroll down of the sheet. This makes little sense; but that's what I see...
