The users' view is that the correct key presses to enter a date of 1/2/2012 are 1 / 2 / 2 0 1 2 and not 1 / 2 <Ctrl-Z> / 2 0 1 2 which will (a) slow the user down and (b) result in errors of omission where the user fails to press <Ctrl-Z> and or, when the user becomes thoroughly hapituated, commission where it's pressed for dates such as 1/3/2012.
