I am converting from Ms Office

As the direct connection to SMTP doesn't seem it is ever going to work on the
in gmail SMTP (and others) probably due to the way gmail does its security, is
there a way to mass email merge through the email client as Writer does for
single emails? (and BTW this is what I was used to in MS Office)

Linunx Mint 20.3 Cinnamon, Libre Office 7.3.3.2 Thunderbird 91.8.1

What I want to do:

I think i have worked out the way writer works with calc via base to create a
merged doc. My spreadsheet contains data with initials surname email and
various others containing cash amounts.
(Base doesn't like spaces in the column headers / field names of the calc
sheet, I think this is the same with many dbase apps)

Using calc as the data I create a registered database in base, selecting the
tab name with the data table I want, then create two queries,
for printing sorted on the email field (Like "No Email"),
for emailing sorted on the email field (Like "*@*.*) .
Printing works no problems, but email is as many have described with LO
freezing and having to be shut down.
