            Bug ID: 149062
Summary: Asian text font -- why can't Europeans / Westerns have
                    a default preference "Western"?
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 6.4.7.2 release
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

It is understood that we Europeans and North Americans are only a small
population on this planet (1 of 8mrd), and only a small group in Libreoffice's
users...

But we were the first clients of Word Processor manufacturers... so, perhaps it
should not be equally Chinese and Western today... it could be Western still,
and it could be switched to Chinese / Asian, too...

It shouldn't be a difficult thing!

Just let us tick "Western" in the preferences, which would mean in a PC manner
"no Chinese options for me, please"...

once again, Western Culture and Chinese Culture, as well as Tibetan Culture or
Taiwan Culture or Japanese Culture are all on the same level...
NO culture, no language should gain predominance...
except English, which is the international language :)

I'm only talking about having Libreoffice as our good old Western word
processor... without the Chinese presence all over the interface...

Look at what happened to the style window:

"Asian layout", "Asian Typography", or see "font":
"Western font" / "Asian font"

why can't I set a preference somewhere so I won't get this?
why can't I turn off "Asian" altogether since I don't use it?

............................
I hope that despite what I wrote sounds potentially impolite, it is clear that
I'm talking about a simple claim... without offending our Asian fellow-users...
or taking away anything of their comfort in using Libreoffice
