The uploaded file (Comment 2) was created as an Excel format spreadsheet using LibreOffice ver 3.5.5.3. Opening that file with the same LibreOffice version gives a password prompt (and if you enter the password the file opens just fine). When I upgrade to LibreOffice version 3.5.6.2 and try to open the same file I don't even get the password prompt. Instead I get prompted for ASCII conversion options. In other words LibreOffice 3.5.6.2 doesn't recognize the file as a valid Excel format spreadsheet file.
