If one line vertical position is changed (with pointer or arrow keys) selection jumps between both. Maybe this can explain why with touchpad/mouse (if snap to grid is disabled) allow to jump between all shapes. Testing with the second test file: if vertical position is changed, selection with tab works well. If there are two lines aligned, selection do not works well.
