I think this was confirmed too fast.
The whole concept of LO directly connecting to Gmail is false.
What you may do is configure local program to use Gmail and LO to use that.
In Linux, I guess this could do:

In Windows, something similar or Affixa.com.
I set Needinfo for reporter, who I hope is well, to test it and write how he
solved that.
