I don't know for sure on macOS, but on Windows builds the 'Use hardware acceleration' checkbox is non-responsive while the 'Use Skia for all rendering' is enabled. Which is consistent. IIUC, there are three rendering modes--CPU only, CPU w/HA, GPU (Skia) [with or without Vulkan via its two checkboxes]. The 'Use hardware acceleration' controls the CPU only vs. CPU w/HA.
