--- Comment #3 from Michael Warner <[email protected]> ---
Google translation of Comment 1:
Description:
I wanted to open a docx file on my laptop (Windows 10 Pro Education operating
system) from Windows Explorer that I had created on my desktop with LibreOffice
Writer. I did not mark this file as "read-only". It is therefore released for
editing!!

However, when I open the file with LibreOffice Writer, I get the following
message in a newly opened window:

document in use
The document file "Themen zum Test 30.11.21.docx" is locked for editing by:
The name of my desktop follows in the next line
Then the following message follows in the same window:
Open the document as read-only or create a working copy. You can also ignore
the file lock and open the document for editing.

Below that, you can choose from the following activation buttons:

Open read-only Open working copy Open Cancel

This is really very strange. Even if the file was not write-protected in the
original, it cannot be that it is apparently generally possible, at least in
LibreOffice Writer (see description of the window contents above), to ignore a
file lock and open the document for editing. So I can click the "Open as
read-only" button, then the file is opened as read-only in LibreOffice 7.2 with
the LibreOffice Writer. At the top left is the file name with the ending docx
(read-only) - LibreOffice Writer. So the LibreOffice program obviously assumes
that the file is read-only!! At the top right you can click on "Edit Document".
After clicking, the file can be completely changed and edited. If you click on
"Open", the file can even be edited directly without write protection and the
designation "(Read only)" no longer appears at the top left behind the file
name.

There is obviously a heavy one here!! Programming error before !! I cannot
judge whether this error also occurs in other LibreOffice programs. It must not
be possible for a program to simply ignore a file lock or write protection and
release a protected file for editing.
Another note about the version of LibreOffice, which is queried below. I only
have the information that my LibreOffice is version 7.2. I am not aware of the
sub-versions listed below.

I look forward to feedback to [email protected]
Thank you very much!!! FrankWerner

Steps to reproduce:
1. Tried on three read-only files where the message "locked for editing" etc.
(see window contents description above) appeared after opening with LibreOffice
Writer.
2. Several other files with the same attributes, i.e. without write protection,
could be opened normally for editing with LibreOffice Writer without any
problems and without the mentioned lock notice.

ActualResults:
For some docx files the window explained above in the description will open
with ignoring the file lock etc., other docx files will open quite normally
even though the file attributes are the same. Write protection is not set for
any docx file!

Expected Results:
I would have expected this error to appear with all docx files since the file
attributes were all the same.

Reproducible: Sometimes

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Since the files were all provided without protection attributes, the program,
LibreOffice Writer, should have simply opened the files without the notice
"locked for editing" and other window content mentioned above.
If the program assumes that the files are locked for editing, there must be no
way to open the files as read-only and then edit them.
