Bug ID: 62560
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: BUSINESS: LibreOffice Calc needs a DROP-IN replacement
for Excel's way to present data (ODBC and MSQuery)
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
Component: Spreadsheet
Product: LibreOffice
Hello,
A lot of businesses use heavily crafted Excel files (PivotTable reports) +
MSQuery functionality + ODBC drivers + some database engine (Oracle ?) to
extract and present business (sales) reports.
At version 4.0.1.2, LibreOfficemisses a DROP-IN replacement for such
functionality, making impossible to replace Excel with LibreOffice Calc in such
business applications:
- same speed in refreshing PivotTable data (user experience)
- same network usage efficiency while talking to the remote database server
(bandwith allocation)
- same ease in manipulating PivotTable reports (user experience)
- simple ways of formatting the dynamic part of the PivotTable (such as dates,
numbers, etc.)
Please provide such functionality in future versions, since it will affect a
large number of users and greatly expanf LibreOffie Calc's adoption in
businesses.
