I vote for this feature too. Be carefull with the option which transforms the
images (see other bugs related to image compression dialog).

The kind of image should not change :
- transform lossless compression format into lossless compression format (png,
...)
- transform lossy compression format into lossy compression format (jpeg, ...)

For lossless compression format, maybe an option should provide the indexed
colour feature (~ 256 colours automatically chosen among billions of coulours).

Maybe think about a threshold for the image resolution tranformation. For
example, if you choose to reduce to 200dpi, the tool shouldn't change the image
with resolution between 200 dpi and 300 dpi (otherwise those images will have a
perceptible quality loss and could increase in size). Maybe the threshold which
triggers the transformation should be a parameter by default set to 1,5 times
the new resolution target.
