I removed the printer (it was disconnected, i.e. it's a wifi printer but it is off right now) from printers & scanners and now the character dialog opens as usual. So, I guess this is a driver issue(?). But if it is possible for some system API that accesses or searches for a printer to timeout like that, maybe this is something that can be taken into account, i.e. do not block the UI/main thread while waiting for a response. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
