My WebDAV drive (Nextcloud hosted on my home server) is mounted in Windows as drive N:\ through Network > Connect network drive. No other application except LibreOffice asks for the WebDAV login to open and edit files on this drive. So this step is not necessary at all and a special behavior of LibreOffice.
