Bug ID: 153850 Summary: Replace vague or undefined terms with specific dates and/or versions Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Documentation Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: adylo811...@gmail.com CC: olivier.hal...@libreoffice.org At the end of: https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/scalc/01/04060199.html?DbPAR=CALC#hd_id3153550 there is currently a note: -- Start quote -- Reference concatenation using a tilde character was implemented lately. When a formula with the tilde operator exists in a document that is opened in old versions of the software, an error is returned. A reference list is not allowed inside an array expression. -- End quote -- First, the very last sentence seems unrelated to the rest, and should rather be located in its own paragraph, even if it all resides within the same "note box". Additionally, the terminology should not be so vague / undefined. Instead of "lately", there should be a specific version in which the feature is to be considered stable and fully implemented (and valid / supported since then). Similarly, the use of "old versions of the software" is too vague. Generally speaking, the references and expressions should point to either: * a date and/or * a LO version and/or * a standard (e.g. ODF, XML) version. If possible (and relevant) a combination of the above should be provided; for instance a LO version, released at a certain date, and (an extension to) the ODF standard version where the feature is valid / invalid. There might be other similarly vague / undefined references in the help files, and/or the official Manuals / User Guides. A simple example of a better terminology is at: https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/scalc/01/04060105.html?DbPAR=CALC#bm_id3156257 regarding the XOR function: "This function is available since LibreOffice 4.0.". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
