Of course html can contain embedded images. You might want to click on my
second attachment.

But if you mean html e-mail cannot, you might be right. 

The point is: LibO should create a multipart mime message that includes the
image, and it doesn't.

And I thought the intention is to send a formatted mailing including the
images, and not work around it by sharing the images through some web server.

Isn't it?
