Bug ID: 154062
Summary: First document to open takes very long to load. Second
will load quickly. (Windows)
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.4.5.1 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Whenever I load a document without another Libre Office instance already open,
it takes very long to open. When I open one with another document already open
in the background, it opens quickly.
Not really sure what is causing this. I tried different versions of Libre
Office. I tried 32bit and 64bit. I tried disabling Windows Defender, I tried to
disable "Skia" or hardware acceleration. I tried deleting the LibreOffice
folder in AppData. I also tried disabling all sorts of other programs that
usually start together with Windows. Also tried to install the "quick starter"
from the installer. Nothing is really helping...
I tried to monitor the process. But other than seeing that it's not doing all
that much for almost a minute, I wasn't able to detect anything. There is no
load on the CPU the entire time.
It is affecting all programs. Doesn't matter whether it is a spreadsheet or a
writer document.
As far as I can tell it is mainly happening on Windows. Not sure what component
on Windows is causing this, because I have friends that say it behaves normal
for them. I was also able to try it on Mac and it worked normal there too.
Was looking on the web for solutions, too. There were a few topics about it,
sometimes already years old. Nothing much from there was helping to track down
the problem.
Steps to Reproduce:
For me it happens every time. But not sure what is causing it.
Actual Results:
Very slow loading of first document
Expected Results:
Open first one as quick as second document or maybe slightly slower but not
extremely slow.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
Yeah sorry that this report is not very specific... I'm not even sure that the
cause of the problem is within the Libre Office software. Maybe some Windows
problem is causing it and Libre Office is just the only software affected. At
least as far as I can tell...
