There is definitely something that could be done more efficiently, given that loading the image in a browser is instant (my example is less than 500KB) but LibreOffice can take 12 seconds, giving the impression it is frozen. Steps: 1. Open a component (I think this applies to all component that can insert pictures) 2. Insert > Image > use this URL: https://www.libreoffice.org/themes/libreofficenew/img/header2.jpg > OK (Note that on some versions of GNOME, if the file picker only shows the breadcrumbs, you will have to us Ctrl + L to reveal the address field.)
