Priority: medium
Bug ID: 63657
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: performance: multitasking and hyper-threading
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.0.2.1 rc
Component: Libreoffice
Product: LibreOffice
LibreOffice doesn't support multi-tasking nor hyper-threading.
The first is seen clearly when doing a job that takes time (like exporting a
large file into PDF) and trying to edit another one while the first is being
exported. When something is being done, the whole suit is unusable until it has
finished.
The other is clearly noticed when opening multiple files one of which consumes
a lot of the processor's power, and then opening any system-monitoring tool and
looking at the CPU usage; only one processor is being used intensively, while
the others are to the minimum. I'm quite sure it is not platform dependant.
Adding those features is recommended, especially that the current platforms can
support them, and that many (I don't like to use quantifiers, but I believe I
can do so here) users need them!
