It does not apply any additional *property* to the affected text. And this text behaves like any other normal text, e.g. autocorrect rules affect it. What you observe in #3 is "Capitalize first letter of every sentence" autocorrection rule (Tools->AutoCorrect->AutoCorrect Options, tab "Options").
