This is one of several ways to select the used area. The 'paste special > transpose' command works as expected. The 'paste special > transpose' command is working correctly. The point about what or how to select the relevant area (only) so as to copy+paste is a different matter (not only relevant for this particular case). There are other reports related to what exactly [CTRL]+[A] and/or [CTRL]+[*] and/or other alternative selection methods do when applying some command after the selection.
