Looks like my installation had several remainders of previous LO installations like 3.3, 3.4 and 3.6. An apt-get purge cleaned off enough to make the desktop integration installer work. As a last thing I had to remove an Math 3.6 entry with the menu editor. Since then I can work with LO4. Maybe its a good idea to describe the apt-get purge procedure in the manual.
