The fact that a format can be opened by several different programs is not the
point.

The point is that the definition of "Microsoft Word documents" (seen in the
installer) doesn't include RTF documents, it's just too broad. Going down this
path, why not associate TXT files even? It does, however, include DOCX, so I
don't think anyone could ever argue against it.

The default installation behavior doesn't need to change, if that's the issue
here. A check box for excluding RTF files can sit behind an "Advanced" or
"Customize" installation button.
