Bug ID: 154949
Summary: Random and continuous crash. Crash reason:
"Exception_access_violation_read"
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.4.6.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Hello everyone.
Since we updated to version 7.4.6.2 at our offices, we can no longer work due
to some crashes that occur continuously. Out of a total of 150 computers, this
problem only occurs on 5 or 6. We have tried resetting the user profile,
deleting it completely, formatting the PCs and even replacing them with new
ones. The problem hasn't been resolved.
I managed to save a crash report (UUID 43406760-cb17-4620-b715-68650fb3eff6)
and the reason for the crash is "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ". With version
6.4 we never had this kind of problem.
Is this a recognized bug in this version? Can you, in case, tell us the LTS
version that allows us not to stumble upon this problem anymore?
Thank u so much.
Steps to Reproduce:
There are no precise steps to reproduce it.
Colleagues affected by this problem report that it generally occurs when
working on more than three files at a time.
A colleague reported that while writing inside the file, the screen suddenly
freezes (as if it were saving something) and then closes automatically. When
she reopens LibreOffice, it offers her the restore to the last automatic save
made.
Actual Results:
No results. Every attempt made on those machines (and on those with new
installations) had no effect.
Expected Results:
The software should not continuously crash while working on it.
Reproducible: Sometimes
User Profile Reset: Yes
Additional Info:
Since the problem only occurs with some colleagues, it makes me think that the
problem could be related to either the files they work on (even though they are
not always the same), or to the way they work (so a series of specific actions
that lead to the crash).
