Bug ID: 155683
Summary: After upgrade to 7.3.7.3, chart axis labels overlap so
much it's just a black blob
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.3.7.2 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
I have a set of some 4500x3 data points, the first column being the date (in
YYYY-mm-dd, representing dates in the last five years, with lots of duplicate
dates and some skipped dates) and the next three columns being the values,
configured as three different data sets. To display this in a line chart I have
formatted the label as a date in year-month format, and LibreOffice was
automatically displaying one label for roughly every three months.
I upgraded to 7.3.7.3 (sorry I don't know the previous version but I could
probably find it in some log or backup, it had a bug where it would sometimes
fail to calculate values, yielding a 5xx error, and then recalculate everything
correctly after a trivial no-op change to an unrelated cell).
After update it seems every single label is shown, leading to a solid black
blob of labels. I played with the chart definition, changing "automatic" to
"tiled", "45 degrees" to other values, clicking "vertically stacked", and
similar, but I only succeeded in changing the shape of the blob.
In order to reproduce, I created a new file, but did not succeed in
reproducing. I then in the original file created a new chart over the same data
and as far as I can see exactly the same configuration, and that new chart did
not have the problem either.
Therefore it seems not to be a bug in the LibreOffice version in itself, but
rather a bug in the upgrade process. I cannot try to reproduce that as I would
need to install the old version (and whole operating system) from backups. It
could even be related to a corruption in my file.
Therefore I'm setting this as Minor, because the workaround of creating a new
chart is quite painless.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create dataset in an old version of LibreOffice
2. Upgrade to 7.3.7.3
Actual Results:
Labels overlap.
Expected Results:
Labels do not overlap.
Reproducible: Didn't try
User Profile Reset: No
