I replaced the latest version (7.5.4.x) with the earlier (7.4.7) and the print dialog and also the print preview are much faster – or normal as opposed to extremely slow and laggish with the newer version. In the print preview there was always a pause after clicking on the switch for document orientation (I print very often tables with landscape orientation), now with version 7.4.7 everything is normal again. If I should provide some logs or anything helpful, please leave a comment.
