Bug ID: 156036
Summary: Formatting: Different first-page header & footer
options don't stay and options change automatically
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.3.2.2 release
Hardware: Other
OS: macOS (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
I have a 2-page document. I have a different first-page header, but the footer
is the same for both pages. I set up the header, and when I wanted to change
the information in the footer, I realized it was also set to having the first
page different.
I clicked into the footer to get to the format menu, clicked the box to have
the first page the same, clicked ok, & changed the information. However, the
header had now disappeared from the first page. I had to click on the header on
the second page to get into the header menu and deselect the box for the first
page being the same as the rest of the document.
Sometimes this works, but then sometimes the footer goes back to automatically
having a different first page as well (with the option checked in the menu.)
Sometimes I can change the footer, and the header goes back to being
automatically clicked!
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a two-page document
2. Set up a header that is different on both pages (not the same; the box
shouldn't be checked in the format menu)
3. Create a footer that is the same for both pages (click the box in the format
menu)
Actual Results:
The footer seems to default to having the first page different like the header.
When the footer options are changed to be the same on both pages, the box under
the header is also selected. If I deselect the option under the header to have
a different first page, then the footer is automatically selected for that
option as well.
Expected Results:
The header and footer options should be independent of each other. Changing one
should not have any effect on changing the other. I should be able to have a
different header on both pages, but the footer should be able to be the same.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
I am currently running OS 10.13.6 and cannot upgrade my system any further
(MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)
I have tried closing the program and restarting it with no success. I have
tried changing the footer, saving the file, closing it, and reopening it to fix
the header, but then the footer gets changed back to having the first page
different.
Sometimes the change stays, but sometimes it does not. The only "workaround" I
know of is copying the information in the footer to both pages. While this is
an ok solution, this will not help me long-term as the information I have in
the footer is version information that will be changed and needs to be
accurate. Until this is fixed, I need to double-check every document I create
to ensure all pages have the correct footer information.
Thank you for your help in fixing this problem!
