Actually using either the Next or the Back button DOES refresh display of the
path dialog, and allows it to be changed as needed, or accepted as is.

Attached screen capture of LibreOffice 4.0.2 final installation panel showing
all components deselected and subsequent setting of path using Next & Back
buttons.

Reselecting calc and writer and proceeding with installation appears normal.
Writer and Calc have active entries in the Start Center as Andras had
indicated. They also have start menu short cuts under the LibreOffice entry.
The non selected components are greyed out in start center and have no start
menu short cut.

Performing a repair/change from add/remove programs and selecting additional
components does restore their launchers displaying in start center.

So it all appears to function as expected. So what is the issue?

As to an enhancement, as designed LibreOffice is monolithic--the launchers
configure the interface for a particular set of data file manipulations.
Suppressing the setup of the launcher will not appreciably change the program,
just the types of data files it can be configured to work with.

Removing the unused launchers from the start center for Windows builds would be
a possibility, but that would not be an especially useful enhancement for most
folks. Nor would I expect it to be very appealing to developers. Suggest that
leaving it as is, with greyed out icons for missing launchers, is probably the
best.
