This is all because of:
Menu Tools > AutoCorrect Options > Options > Correct accidental use of cAPS
LOCK key

As there is a specific setting for this, I'm not sure this behavior can be
considered a bug, or whether there is some potential enhancement.

The AutoCorrect / AutoInput settings are not well-known, and when users see
that the text that was introduced is "automagically" modified, they see it as a
problem.

Workaround: changing AutoCorrect options, or disabling it altogether.
