Bug ID: 156226
Summary: Writer Spell Check prevents manual correction
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 3.3.4 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
LibreOffice Writer spell check does not allow manual correction to a word or
phrase when its list of automatic corrections is insufficient.
1. At times I need to leave the spell check window and manually apply a
correction, then get back into the spell check window. Spell check does not
allow this.
2. If I close the spell check window once it has found a misspelled word, it
MOVES THE CURSOR AWAY FROM the misspelled word, making it difficult for me to
find it and correct manually in a large, multi-page document.
3. While the list of possible automatic corrections to choose from is good, it
will never be perfect, and manual correction should always be possible.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Example misspelling: The m an who Billie visited
2.Spell check finds: an who
3.Correction suggested: a who
4. Spell check does not recognize the lone "m" as being invalid, does not
recognize that there is an intrusive space, and does not allow manual
correction when the proposed correction is obviously invalid.
Actual Results:
It shows me what it thinks is a misspelling and is usually, but not always,
correct. The proposed solutions are sometimes insufficient, making it necessary
for me to close the spell check window to manually correct the problem. In a
large multi-page document, it moves back to the page on which I started the
spell check and loses the location of the misspelling.
Expected Results:
It should allow me to leave the spell check window, make a manual correction to
the document, then allow me to get back into the spell check window.
Reproducible: Always
