After the idle timeout my document is updated and the "modified document" indicator on the save button goes away. -I create a new document and make some changes without saving the document. After the idle timeout, the backup folder contains an AutoSave named untitled_0.odt. -I manually save and give a name to the file now. (untitled_0.odt is removed) -make a change. After the idle timeout, my document is updated. So in general the "automatically save my document" function seems to work as expected.
