We agree with comment 6 and other that MD provides a way to achieve style consistency. While the option shouldn't have much impact on usability it is against the simplicity principle. It _might_ be nice being able to combine documents without loosing the individual style but there is not scenario that makes it absolutely necessary. Corner cases can be solved easily.
