--- Comment #2 from Coburn Ingram <[email protected]> --- I have not tested in 3.3 and it does not matter. I only put that because it is an old behavior that has not changed in forever. It still persists. This is a really, really simple problem to understand. I have seen it across all versions of LO in Linux for the last 18 years. Usually I see it with a fresh install, and so no, my user profile is not involved. Please fix this. Please think of it as like HTML tags or Markdown. When I hit a <CTRL> combination or switch from plain to bold or italic, I simply want it to work. I want to be able to figuratively insert a tag when I hit those keys. I want to be able to have three italic letters in the middle of a word, if I so choose. Currently the only way to do that is: 1. Type the word. 2. Type a space. 3. Manually select the letters in the middle of the word with a mouse. 4. Convert the letters to the desired font-weight. I would like to be able to do it this way. 1. Type some letters. 2. Use a <CTRL> combination. 3. Type some more letters. 4. Use the <CTRL> combination again. 5. Finish typing the word. I mean, people! Key combinations were in use in 1985, when I learned Lotus 1-2-3 on a text-based computer. We should have all the bugs worked out by now!
