This is definitely useful for some technical authoring tasks.

In some cases, we create PDF specification document updates where the changes
are only marked using change bars... the text itself appears as the latest
version without any "clutter" of tracked changes colouring. This allows the
reader to see at a glance where changes have been made, but can focus on the
new text.

It would be very helpful to be able to hide deleted text (and in such a way
that there is no indication of the deletion, other than when change bars are
enabled).
