Bug ID: 157181
Summary: Some digraph characters render as garbage in a weird
circumstance.
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.6.0.3 release
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
7.5 and 7.6 both do this: In Writer, opened a .doc, changed the font from Times
New Roman to Adobe Caslon Pro. There are paragraphs that are in bold italic,
but somehow LibreOffice has Bold checked, but not Italic - presumably to do
with Word formatting. (I don't have Word to check what's going on in the
original.) In this context, the digraphs Th and ff render as a random shape of
scattered dots. If you reformat the passage within Writer in any way, it
renders correctly, so it is not a big problem, but it indicates that there is
something odd going on when converting files from .doc, and/or something wrong
with rendering certain fonts.
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Some sort of formatting in Word yields Bold Italic, though LibreOffice's
toolbar only shows Bold selected. The text rendered is wider than normal Bold
Italic.
2.Format the text in Adobe Caslon Pro
3.Include in the text Th or ff.
4.Do not reformat to Italic using Writer.
Actual Results:
Th comes out as a messy block of dots. ff comes out as a blank space with a
couple of dots high up.
Expected Results:
Th and ff digraphs should be auto-replaced correctly.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
I have a screenshot of the Th failure. Unfortunately I don't know in detail
what the original document had that rendered as bold italic without LibreOffice
seeing it as italic.
