Nearly the same problem under Windows 10: I can open the file, but then
LibreOffice goes unresponsive.

I've noticed through Task Manager that windows sometimes puts a process in
"Effectivity mode" which allegedly spares resources. I don't know how or when,
but that might be a clue to the source of the problem.
