Bug ID: 158075
Summary: New Table function allowing shifting columns within
table up or down
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.5.7.1 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: LibreOffice
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
When editing documents in more than one language it is useful to use LO with
the two languages side to side, each paragraph in a cell. However, due to
translating differences or formatting errors, paragraphs in one language need
to be checked in order for all the paragraphs in two languages to be side by
side.
This practically means being able to move from a certain point a column down or
up.
First ex.
Column A = Language A
Column B = Language B
The numbers refer to the paragraphs.
A1 =B1
A2 = B2
B3
A3 = B4
A4 = B5
In the case above I want to be able to move Column B from a point above par. 3
down so that the paragraphs are again in line with the target language.
Second ex.
A1 =B1
A2 = B2.1
A3 = B2.2
A4 = B3
A5 = B4
In this case I would like to move column A down from A3 (and then merge B2.1
and B2.2.)
Actual situation: This function is presently absent from LO
Workaround tried: Presently I have been working with two documents. A first
with two columns and a second with the target language. I usuall scroll the
table down to check if paragraphs correspond. When I spot a mistake in the
first I go to the second file, correct the mistake there, copy the whole text
and paste it again in the corresponding language of the first file.
Steps to Reproduce:
Follow the instructions above
Actual Results:
Presently the way to do it is very long, especially with long files.
Expected Results:
A button/function to shift columns up or down from a certain point would solve
the problem.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
No more information needed to describe the problem.
