Please be aware that users that need to insert characters that are not included in their keyboard layout might be using these type of shortcuts. One typical scenario is users inserting characters of other/multiple languages (such as accented letters/vowels while using a US keyboard). When such needs are sporadic, other methods of inserting foreign characters are available.
