Sample showing the discrepancy
When a page is configured for multi-column, sections are jailed inside the page
columns and cannot be made larger than the column.
When a section is inserted inside a multi-column section, its "base width" is
the same as the containing section and nested section is not jailed in any
outer column.
This is not consistent and makes difficult to insert a full width heading in a
2-column page.
If page is configured for 2-column this is impossible.
Page must be configured for 1-column (though most of the text is wanted in
2-column) and text associated with the heading must be typed inside a 2-column
section.
This is illustrated in the attached sample file.
This can be helped with an AutoText entry but does not change the problem.
Note that, in the end, the number of sections is the same anyway.
Is there a reason to make a difference in handling? I can't see a use case
except to have a "small" part of the text divided into n-columns in a part of
the page column. But if the length of the nested section needed to accommodate
the text is quite large, this results a strange looking layout where reading
order is not necessarily obvious.
Do you know of a use case where this is needed?
Otherwise, can you change n-column page style behaviour to be the same as
nested sections?
