Of course, this may be a symptom of some file-association fight between
Microsoft Office and LibreOffice, and/or some other suite.

I'm using Gentoo, and libreoffice is launched by plasma/dolphin, and it
give this dialog asking about the format.
Could you please create a new bug report and attach a test document
there?
I wonder if it happens only with a particular document or with others as
well. Anyway, all these details belongs to bugzilla which is the right
place to track bugs :-)

This's a Gentoo specific bug, does not happen with the official binaries.
