QA Team, In the TDF wiki, the steps about OpenCL troubleshooting are incorrect – just attempt to follow them and you will see:
<https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Computation-related_issues_in_Calc_(_OpenCL_)> Unfortunately, I have no idea what to correct. I am a common user, not a developer. There is only 1 OpenCL setting that I know of. Step 3 is unintelligible, so that step and the next ones cannot be followed by common users. As for the OpenCL log and xml files, they exist when the one-and-only setting for OpenCL is ON (which I discovered incidentally only). So again, any common user trying to follow these steps cannot really know what to do for troubleshooting. What I was able to do: * Set the OpenCL setting to either checked or unchecked. * Search for some "*opencl*.*" files somewhere; it turns out that the log and xml files exist when the option is ON only, and their contents are always the same (for each hardware). Bug 161048 (now fixed from my POV) depends on the OpenCL setting, but it has nothing to do with any amount of formulas (as the note in that wiki section points out). For troubleshooting purposes, the note, while not incorrect, is incomplete and it might be deceiving or it might confuse users into disregarding OpenCL as a potential source of the problem for their (troubleshooting) case. IMHO, the whole section about OpenCL needs a review for correctness, accuracy and usefulness. Could someone from the QA team please improve that wiki section for common users? Thank you, Ady.
