MSO provides "Use system settings", which is not the default, that changes the app colors depending on the OS theme. All other themes overwrite this OS-level theming, as requested here too. On the one hand, simplicity is good. But our solution is superior and more flexible to the MSO theming. As a compromise we could introduce a switch inside the theme definition whether the colors change depending on the system setting light/dark or if the theme should be treated as a static color set. Some argued that splitting the theme again into UI and App colors makes it easier to understand. However, this would be the opposite of the intended by-design theme-per-extension configuration.
