One interesting thing is that, however we cache the referenced file
contents - we don't notice when that spreadsheet is opened, and altered
(it seems). Nor when it is saved, and a re-calculation is forced by
editing the formula cell.
Perhaps that is a feature-not-bug; but it must make constructing these
things somewhat annoying and counter-intuitive.
