Another quirk of the testtool is that the language fallback stuff doesn't seem to be in use, so export LANG=en_US.UTF-8" is a good thing to do beforehand, e.g. en_IE.UTF-8 led to Hindi (?) as the UI export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen is another good thing to do I recall from past experiences.
