They show as being chained together as dependents - that's fine. They're not as tightly coupled as most other git forges - each commit in the series might get committed when it's ready even if the ones later aren't there yet. Of course you have to make sure that each patch still survives through the build and checks; so when you're spliting your patches up you have to find an order that doesn't break the intermediate states.
