Hi libreoffice-dev,I wanted to share an idea I'm working on and see if anyone is interested in collaborating. I've started with the localwriter extension, which isn't active but is a great baseline. I will try to get it into the official extension if the maintainer has interest and time.https://github.com/KeithCu/localwriter <https://github.com/KeithCu/localwriter>I've converted it into a Sidebar panel so you can chat with documents, and added tool-calling so it can make basic changes to the document and formatting. I've got enough working that the system will convert your document to French or whatever just by asking, or make the last word in a sentence bold ;-)Screenshot_20260212_190717.pngI'm using Nemotron Nano 3 over openrouter.ai <http://openrouter.ai> which provides 200+ tokens per second and is cheap ($0.05 / 1M input tokens, $0.20 / 1M output tokens) and smart enough, but the behavior will be different with every model. It should work locally if you have the hardware or patience. The direction is an in-editor copilot that can understand document context, suggest edits, and help users work faster with controlled, user-approved actions. Planned areas include:better context tools (selection/cursor/metadata awareness) safer editing workflows (propose-first, explicit accept/reject) predictive “future words” suggestions to speed up typing reliability/safety foundations (timeouts, clear errors, rollback-friendly behavior)“Cursor for LibreOffice” is the shorthand I like. If you haven't tried Cursor on a project yet, I recommend it or an equivalent such as Code + Kilocode.I'll work on the roadmap over time but if this sounds interesting, I’d love collaborators. I'm focusing on Writer for now. The modern AIs can handle most of the coding, they just need direction and testing. I've got a good AGENTS.md file that gets an AI up to speed and ready to work and a detailed roadmap that tells them what are the next things to work on. Exposing the whole UNO API is a challenge without using up the whole context (tool-calling can only handle a handful of APIs), but there are solutions for it and the other challenges ;-)-Keith
