You could purchase an Android device; either a tablet or a phone. Buy it at full price (which is equal to or greater than the price of an ebook reader) and now you can use it for whatever you want.
The only drawback will be that the device will have multiple purposes and with a lot of apps it may drain the battery quite quickly.
