There has been a lot of talk on how to pull in the masses. Allowing them to
opt-out of the spying, and mining of their personal data will attract them
in droves. When they get here is when we get to the offering of all the free
applications. When a personal object and it's methods are standardized, then
all this installing, testing, uninstalling applications goes away. A phone
application only should be asking the user object for the phone number to
call.... nothing else, The application needs to take it from there.

It's also simply wrong. Anything put into the Internet is de facto and de
jure copyright by its author, at least in any jurisdiction party to the
Berne Convention (most wrongheaded thing the US has done was signing on).
Now the question of implied licenses and fair use are much greyer areas.
